You Become What You Behold

There’s constant debate about how much we are influenced by the things we view and associate with as far as entertainment, information, friends, even environment. To what extent do those things shape our character and who we are? What degree of reciprocity is involved with the human action of engaging or putting attention towards an object?

This idea of influence is the subject of the first emblem I want to introduce from my new book, A Book of Emblems. As with the presentation and analysis of historical emblems from the past I’ve covered so far, for now, I’ll just present the emblem (title, motto, image, and text), and go into more explanation later about what stuff means.
